As a huge fan of the 131 Method online program and Chalene Johnson, I was able to get my hands on an early release copy of the new 131 Method Book. I was therefore able to read through this book that won’t actually be hitting bookstores until April.

This book is all about understanding how our bodies function in order to create an eating style that fuels our bodies instead of inflaming it. The whole goal is to heal our gut so that we can really absorb the nutrients in our food and heal our bodies.
With this book and the 131 Method as a whole, Chalene Johnson is on a mission to take back the word diet.
According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, a diet is
A: food and drink regularly provided or consumed. [a diet of fruits and vegetables; a vegetarian diet]
B: habitual nourishment [links between diet and disease]
C: the kind and amount of food prescribed for a person or animal for a special reason [was put on a low-sodium diet]
D: a regimen of eating and drinking sparingly so as to reduce one's weight [going on a diet]
A, B, C & D are all true. And yet somehow, as a society, we seem to solely focus on D. To most of us, the word "diet" means something we do to lose weight. It means restriction and being controlled by our food. This is no way to live life and it has to stop!
The 131 Method is the "anti-diet", if you will. It teaches us that we don't need to "be on a diet" but we need to "have a diet" specifically customized for our DNA, gut health, and individual makeup.
There is so much science packed into this book and yet everything is completely understandable and accessible. Even without a doctorate you will clearing understand how your body digests and utilizes food. In fact, you’ll probably end up with a better understanding than some doctors.
