It's almost fall and already I am seeing pumpkin spice flavored foods everywhere. If you are a pumpkin fan, you have long awaited this time of year.
While some people remain adamantly against the pumpkin devotion, I am all about it. Although admittedly this is a more recent occurrence for me. I had never had an opinion on it until I actually tried something pumpkin flavored a few years ago and then I never looked back.
In fact, this eating of foods while they are in season is a natural and healthy part of humanity. I mean way back when, we didn't have all the technology to store and transport food, so we ate what was in season.
This is a great way to support your body and maintain a healthy diet by switching up what you eat. But will will save that discussion for a future blog post. Suffice it to say, eating things seasonally is a good thing.
And in this season, we are all about pumpkin spice!
So while I am all about eating pumpkin when it is in season, I am not necessarily a fan of all the items being marketed to us. Much of what is being shoved in our faces are highly processed and high in sugar foods.
So seasonal = good. Processed and sugary = not so good.
So what is a mama to do when she wants to take part in that amazing pumpkin flavor but not eat all the added sugar and ingredients?
